Statements of Purpose

At Balance Treatment of SLO, our mission is to improve the lives of individuals, their families and those in their communities by addressing the issues that are preventing growth. The Therapist fulfills direct service, including individual, couple/family and group psychotherapy, consultations, assessments and crisis intervention.  When working in the Intensive Outpatient Program, therapists may be working with adults as well as adolescent clients.  Reports to the Program Director.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the well-being of clients and the integrity of the program.

  • Provide effective individual, family and group psychotherapy as assigned.

  • Maintain knowledge of mental health, dual diagnosis, CBT, DBT, and family systems approach.

  • Conduct assessments of clients at admission and as needed.

  • Provide appropriate diagnoses and treatment recommendations based on a review of the client’s history, signs, and symptoms.

  • Conduct crisis intervention services, including initiating 5150 evaluations.

  • Participate is treatment planning.

  • Provide utilization reviews as required.

  • Consult with agency staff, caregivers and other professionals.

  • Maintain all documentation in appropriate and timely manner as required.

  • Provide appropriate discharge planning for clients as required.

  • Attend and complete all in-service training and educational workshops.

  • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.

  • Maintain knowledge of and act in accordance with the Balance Treatment, SLO mission and philosophy.

  • Maintain knowledge of and act in accordance with current legal standards pertaining to professional practice, reporting requirements, professional boundaries, and related issues.

  • Demonstrate respect for cultural and lifestyle diversities of clients and staff.

Qualifications

Following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act.

  • A Masters or Doctorate degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or social science. A license, or registration issued by the governing state board is preferred. A minimum of two years experience in evaluating and/or treating persons suffering from mental illness and/or substance abuse is preferred.

  • Prior training in EMDR, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness or other evidenced-based practices is preferred.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.

  • Must have valid California driver’s license and liability insurance if driving personal vehicle on Balance Treatment Program business.

  • Vision, hearing, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination must be adequate for performance of job duties. Able to sit at desk, use keyboard, write and physically perform other job duties. Able to move about the facility to observe clients and staff.

  • Must be customer-service driven.

  • Write clear and concise statements summarizing clients’ feelings, expressions, resistance and response to their treatment plan, goals and objectives. 

  • Confront behavioral changes, properly identify a crisis, and recognize when additional assistance is necessary.

  • Recognize personal recovery issues that have an impact on job performance and interactions with clients.

  • Understand and maintain policies regarding professional ethics, including appropriate boundaries and client confidentiality.

  • Prepare for and facilitate specialty programs/groups.

  • Communicate clearly with clients, staff, peers, supervisors and non-Balance Treatment Center resources.

  • Maintain all documentation in appropriate and timely manner as required.

  • Attend and complete all in-service training and educational workshops.

  • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.

The LVN or LPT is responsible for the nursing assessment, medication monitoring and supervision of the technician staff for the facility. Reports to the Director of Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the well-being of clients and the integrity of the program.

  • Collect and report performance improvement data as directed by the DON.

  • Monitor medication process.

  • Accept and transcribe phone orders from physicians.

  • Assign and supervise the technician staff.

  • Conduct admission and ongoing assessment of client condition.

  • Take vital signs.

  • Maintain nursing supplies and over-the-counter medication supplies.

  • Conduct complete nursing documentation audits.

  • Conduct and complete documentation of shift report.

  • Complete medication counts as required.

  • Complete patient rounds.

  • Attend facility outings with clients.

  • Maintain all documentation in appropriate and timely manner as required.

  • Attend and complete all in-service training and educational workshops.

  • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.

  • Maintain knowledge of and act in accordance with Balance Treatment Center mission and philosophy.

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for the organization and coordination of office operations, procedures and resources to facilitate organizational effectiveness and efficiency. Administrative Assistant works approximately 30 hours per week in our Intensive Outpatient office to oversee the general demands of our office and provide a positive experience for our clients and their families. Position is Monday – Friday. We are a strongly connected staff committed to each other and our own well-being, as well as a comprehensive approach to the care of our clients.  Position has strong growth potential.

Responsibilities​

  • Maintain the well-being of clients and the integrity of the program.
  • Assist the Director by providing hands-on leadership in all aspects of staffing, insurance and billing activities.
  • Assist the Director to ensure that the office is open on time and ready for business for hours posted and staffed clinically and administratively to meet the needs of the clients.
  • Know, adhere to, and enforce all policies of the business office.
  • Answer phone in a timely, efficient and professional manner, meeting the standard of excellence for the client as is expected by the agency at all times.
  • Supervise business office employees and processes.
  • Conduct all ordering and receiving, manage budget.
  • Work closely with HR to maintain office policies.
  • Responsible for thorough working knowledge of all administrative process and roles.
  • Inform Director of all applicable day-to-day situations.
  • Assist the Director to supervise all administrative activities of the center in a manner consistent with the clinical needs of the center.
  • Follow all equipment safety guidelines and is personally responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment.
  • Maintain the physical appearance of the facility.
  • Assist Director with overall strategic planning of the office.
  • Perform other activities as requested by the Director, and assume other appropriate operational responsibilities as necessary.
  • Assists the Director to ensure departmental compliance with all licensing rules and regulations.
  • Assist with planning and development of community outreach and marketing efforts.
  • Plan and oversee community events.
  • Help establish, cultivate and strengthen relationships with other community healthcare professionals, groups and strategic alliances as directed by company management.
  • Attend and complete all in-service training and educational workshops.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain confidentiality meeting requirements of HIPAA.
  • Maintain knowledge of and act in accordance with Balance Treatment Center mission and philosophy.

Qualifications
