You Are Still Worth It: A Story for Anyone Going Through a Hard Time
There are days when life just… wears you down.
The weight of depression, anxiety, work pressure, or personal struggles can feel like too much. And during those times, it’s easy to forget your own value, to wonder if you’re broken, or failing, or just not enough. If that sounds familiar, this story is for you.
When Life Tries to Tear You Down
One day, a teacher stood in front of the class and held up a crisp $100 bill.
“How much is this worth?” he asked.
“$100,” the class responded.
He crumpled the bill tightly in his hand. “Still worth $100?”
“Yes,” students said.
Then he dropped it to the ground, stepped on it, and scuffed it into the dirt. “What about now?”
The students paused, and then nodded: “Still $100.”
The teacher smiled. “This bill went through a lot. But it didn’t lose its value, and neither do you.”
What This Has to Do with Life
That story may appear simple, but when you are in the midst of a difficult season, it resonates on a different level.
Life can truly wear you down. It can overwhelm you with stress, grief, or fear, pushing you around and making you doubt your self-worth. As a result, you may end up feeling like there is something wrong with you.
But just like that $100 bill, your value doesn’t change, no matter what life throws at you.
You Are Not Broken — Just Worn Down
Depression, anxiety, burnout, and overwhelming circumstances don’t make you any less of a person. But they can trick you into feeling like you’re invisible, unlovable, or a burden.
And too often, people stay silent because of shame or stigma.
We’ve all heard the lies:
“Just snap out of it.”
“Be strong.”
“You should be able to handle this on your own.”
But here’s the truth: Struggling doesn’t make you weak. Asking for help doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
It means you’re brave enough to want something better.
You don’t have to prove your pain. You don’t need to be “strong enough” to suffer in silence. With the right support, things can and do change. Healing is possible. Circumstances shift. Your story isn’t over just because today is hard.
Therapy Helps You Remember Who You Are
When you’re crumpled, stepped on, or buried under emotional weight, group therapy can help you gently smooth out the folds.
It’s not a magic fix, but it is a space where you can begin to feel seen. Where you can talk without judgment, find tools that actually work, and reconnect with your own strength. Group therapy helps you learn to carry your struggles differently, and eventually, to carry them less.
Whether its depression, anxiety, stress, or just feeling lost, there is support. And there is hope.
You Are Still Worth It
If no one has told you lately: You’re still worthy, still needed, still valuable! Even if you don’t feel like it right now.
So the next time you feel stomped on by life, remember the $100 bill. And remember this: You haven’t lost your value. Not even a little.
Let this be your reminder to be kind to yourself, and when you're ready, to reach out for help. You're not alone.
